The Stadio Alfredo Viviani is a football stadium in the Italian city of Potenza in the province of the same name in the Basilicata region . The football club Potenza SC is the main user of the facility. The sports facility is named after Alfredo Viviani; he founded Potenza SC in 1919. The facility is surrounded by residential and commercial buildings.
history
After five years of construction, the stadium was completed in 1934. Originally it was equipped with an athletics facility; Today it can no longer be used due to the construction of grandstands and is only partially preserved. The home of the Potenza SC currently offers 5,500 seats; 815 of which are reserved for guest fans. The stadium has been rebuilt several times in its history; which can be seen in the various stands. When Potenza rose to Serie B in 1963 and stayed in the league until 1968, additional spectator seats were created. However, they were later removed. Today the sports facility has four grandstands. The main stand consists of two individual and covered stands. The back straight with narrow standing room stands is made of concrete; which are divided into several sections. There is an open tubular steel grandstand directly behind the gate in the west. Behind the eastern gate was a small football field made of artificial turf for z. B. created for training purposes; behind it is a small grandstand with around 500 seats. The last renovation works were carried out from summer 2007 to 2008. In 2009 the stadium had to be adapted to the new safety regulations. During the work were u. a. the changing rooms renovated; a video surveillance system installed and turnstile systems retrofitted at the entrances.
