The Stadio Enzo Ricci is a football stadium in the Italian city of Sassuolo . It has space for 4,008 spectators and was the home of the US Sassuolo club until 2008.
history
The Stadio Enzo Ricci in Sassuolo , a town with around 40,000 inhabitants in the province of Modena , opened in 1972. With the opening, the use of the venue by the local football club, the US Sassuolo Calcio, began . Sassuolo played for many years in the depths of the lower class Italian football, but has made a rapid rise in recent years. For the 2008/09 season , the club succeeded for the first time in its history of promotion to the second-class Serie B after they had occupied first place in the table in the Girone A of Serie C1 . In the second class, the US Sassuolo was able to establish itself and did not descend again. The Stadio Enzo Ricci with its 4,000 seats, however, turned out to be unsuitable for the second division. With the rise, the US Sassuolo moved out of its decades-long home stadium and from then on played its home games in nearby Modena in the Stadio Alberto Braglia , which can accommodate over 20,000 people. After making the leap to Serie A , the top division in Italian football, for the first time in the 2012/13 season , the club again changed its home stadium and now operates in the MAPEI Stadium - Città del Tricolore to Reggio nell'Emilia , the also offers space for a little more than 20,000 guests.
