The 2003/04 season of Serie B started on August 30, 2003 and ended on June 12, 2004. Promotion to Serie A , which was increased from 18 to 20 clubs for the next season , was achieved by US Palermo , Cagliari Calcio , FC Messina , the AS Livorno and last year relegated Atalanta . In two relegation games against the 15th in Serie A, AC Perugia , AC Florence was also able to qualify for the top division.
