Riccardo Zampagna (born November 15, 1974 in Terni ) is a former Italian football player , he played on the position of a striker .

Career

Zampagna began his career with Amerina Calcio in Serie D , during the course of his career he played in higher and higher leagues. In the 2000/01 season he was obliged by Cosenza Calcio and thus played for the first time in the second highest Italian professional league. As a result, Zampagna played over a hundred Serie B games with various teams and was able to achieve more than fifty goals. Zampagna moved to FC Messina in the 2004/05 season and made his Serie A debut here at the age of 30 . In his first Serie A season, he scored 12 goals straight away. In the 2005/06 season he moved to the Serie B club Atalanta Bergamo with whom he occupied a promotion place at the end of the season and thus rose to Serie A. On the 3rd match day of the 2007/08 season, Zampagna scored a remarkable goal against Fiorentina to make it 2-2. This goal was voted Goal of the Year in Italy in early 2008 .

After problems and arguments with coach Luigi Delneri , Zampagna moved in January 2008 to the Seriously relegated Serie B club Vicenza Calcio . For the 2008/09 season he moved to the second division promoted US Sassuolo Calcio . In the 2009/10 season he narrowly missed promotion to Serie A with Sassuolo and lost in the promotion playoffs against FC Turin . For the 2010/11 season, the striker moved to the fourth division club Carrarese Calcio , where he made ten appearances and two goals in the league and ended his career in November 2010.
