Carrarese Calcio is a football club from the Tuscan city of Carrara in Italy .

history

The club was founded in 1908 as Unione Sportiva Carrarese Calcio (US Carrarese) and played mostly in lower class leagues until the early 1940s. The club colors are azure and yellow. Before the Second World War could the Series C reach and rose in 1946 for the first time in the (two shared) series B on. After relegation from this in 1948, the club spent the next seasons with some promotions and relegations in the third to fifth class leagues. After the first place in the table in the 1977/78 season in the fifth-rate Serie D Girone E, the club returned to Serie C1 and thus to professional football , where it has been able to assert itself since then. In the 2009/10 season, the club rose athletically from the Lega Pro Seconda Divisione , but was again divided into the fourth division due to non-issued licenses to other league participants and due to the financial support of Cristiano Lucarelli and Gianluigi Buffon . In 2011 they were promoted to the third highest division, which is now known as Lega Pro Prima Divisione .

There is a friendship with Werder Bremen .

The club plays in the Stadio dei Marmi in Piazza Vittorio Veneto 8 . Of the 4,875 seats, the 600 in the main stand are covered. The facility belongs to the city of Carrara and was inaugurated in 1955.
