Moreno Ferrario (born March 20, 1959 in Lainate ) is a former Italian football player , who became known mainly because of his long association with SSC Napoli .
Career
Moreno Ferrario began his career in 1975 with the AS Varese 1910 , when the team of the defender gained his first experiences in professional football, and several times in the series B was used. Two years later he switched to SSC Napoli , where he experienced his most successful period. Although he regularly occupied the top ranks with Naples, it wasn't until the 1986/87 season that he achieved his first successes with the southern Italians by winning the Italian championship and the national cup competition, the Coppa Italia . In the following season, three points behind AC Milan, they just missed defending their title.
He then left the club and joined league rivals AS Roma . In his only season in Rome he reached a secured midfield position with the team and was able to stay away from the relegation ranks. He then moved to the second-rate Serie B for US Avellino . There the defender came in the following two years with the club not over moderate placements in the second highest league in Italy and then signed with AC Siena . With the Tuscan club Ferrario completed the 1991/92 season in the C1 series and remained in the third-highest division even after his signature with the US Carrarese . For the 1994/95 season, the defender was under contract with the fourth division club FBC Saronno , with whom he made promotion to Serie C1 and then ended his active career.
Ferrario was appointed to the Italian U-21 team between 1977 and 1980 and was used in a total of eight games. He made his debut on October 5, 1977 in the game against Yugoslavia. The defender also played six games for the Italian Olympic selection , with which he could not qualify for the 1980 Summer Olympics .
