Mauro Esposito (born June 13, 1979 in Torre del Greco ) is an Italian football player . He can be used as a striker and also as a winger.

Mauro Esposito, who was born and raised near Naples , joined the Italian team Pescara Calcio at a young age . At the age of 15 he moved to Scotland to the Glasgow Rangers , but returned to Pescara, where he then became a regular in Serie B , the second Italian professional league. For the 1999/2000 season, Esposito went to first division club Udinese Calcio , where he was rarely used, but played his first European Cup games in the UEFA Cup in the second season before returning to Pescara Calcio for six months. At the end of the season, Udinese Calcio handed him over to Cagliari Calcio , with whom he was promoted to Serie A after the first two seasons that were very successful for him personally , where he was a dangerous winger in the first season of 2004/05 (16 goals in 34 games). In the next two years Mauro Esposito could not build on the previous performances, in 2006/07 he missed the entire second half of the season due to a cruciate ligament tear .
On July 4, 2007, he moved to AS Roma for four million euros , Cagliari kept 50% of the transfer rights for half of the sum. When Roma Esposito never came on the role of the substitute player out and was for the 2008-09 season for AC Chievo Verona awarded. There he came as a regular player to 27 goalless games in Serie A and managed to keep the league with the Veronese. Also during the 2009/10 season Esposito was awarded by AS Roma, this time to the second division US Grosseto . Finally, in September 2010, he signed a contract with Atletico Roma .
National team
Mauro Esposito played a total of six times for the Italian national football team . He made his debut on October 9, 2004 against the Slovenian national soccer team , but did not make it into the 23-man squad for the 2006 World Cup in Germany , which Italy finished as soccer world champion.
