The Atlantic Cup ( Icelandic Atlantic bikarinn ) was an annual football competition between 2002 and 2008 between the Icelandic and Faroese champions of the previous year.
history
1998 was the first time a friendly match between the reigning Icelandic champions ÍB Vestmannaeyja and the Faroese title holder HB Tórshavn played, which ended 2-2 after 90 minutes and was decided on penalties for the Icelandic representative. Due to the positive response, the two champions held annual meetings from 2002 under the direction of the Faroese and Icelandic Football Associations, now under the official name of the Atlantic Cup . The games were held alternately on the Faroe Islands and Iceland and always took place on the last weekend in April, FITUR acted as sponsor. In 2007 the meeting was supposed to take place in March, but had to be canceled due to financial problems as the sponsor withdrew and the Faroese champion HB Tórshavn could not afford the flight to Iceland. The last game took place in 2008 on the second weekend in April. There were always different winners in the six official games that took place. The Faroe Islands champion won the competition twice, the Icelandic representative was successful four times.

Records
HB Tórshavn took part in the competition most often, winning three times. Baldur Aðalsteinsson was the only player to achieve two triumphs (2002 with ÍA Akranes and 2008 with Valur Reykjavík ), Willum Þór Þórsson was twice successful in coaching (2003 with KR Reykjavík and 2008 with Valur Reykjavík).
