Willum Þór Þórsson (German transcription Willum Thor Thorsson , born March 17, 1963 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic politician ( Progress Party ) and former high school teacher , handball and football coach .

Willum Þór holds a degree in business administration ( cand.oecon. University of Iceland , 1987) and a commercial diploma ( cand.merc. ) From the Copenhagen School of Economics (1996) and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Iceland (2003). From 1986 to 2013 he worked as a teacher at the School of Kópavogur ( Menntaskólinn í Kópavogi operates MK). He was also a handball coach from 1986 to 1995 and a football coach from 1997 to 2013.

Since the Icelandic parliamentary election on April 27, 2013 , Willum Þór has been a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing for the Southwestern constituency . He was a member of the parliamentary committee on economic affairs and trade and the constitutional and supervisory committee. In addition, Willum Þór Þórsson was a member of the Icelandic delegation to the parliamentary committees of the EFTA and EEA countries as well as a member of the joint parliamentary committee EU- Iceland.

For the early parliamentary elections on October 29, 2016 , Willum Þór Þórsson again ran for the Progress Party and was second on their list for the Southwestern constituency. The party could only win one seat in this constituency, which went to the first-placed Eygló Harðardóttir ; Willum Þór was not re-elected. He was able to regain his seat in parliament for the early election on October 28, 2017 .
