Eygló Harðardóttir (German transcription Eyglo Hardardottir , born December 12, 1972 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic politician ( Progress Party ).

She has been a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing since 2008 , from 2008 to 2013 for the southern constituency and since 2013 for the south-western constituency . Since May 23, 2013 she has been Minister for Social Affairs and Housing , initially in the Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson cabinet , and since April 2016 in the Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson cabinet . The Progress Party was not involved in Bjarni Benediktsson's ruling coalition , which was set up on January 11, 2017, so Eygló Harðardóttir was no longer a member of the government. Her successor was Þorsteinn Víglundsson ( Viðreisn ), whose department is now called the Ministry of Social Affairs and Equal Rights .

Since the 2009 election she was a member of the committees for trade (until 2013) and for education (until 2011). From 2011 to 2012 she was a member of the Committee on Welfare. Prior to that, she was a member of the Environment, Health and Industry Committees from 2008-09.

Eygló Harðardóttir did not run for the early parliamentary election on October 28, 2017 .
