Cabinet Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson
The cabinet of Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson was the government of Iceland from April 7th to the parliamentary elections on October 29th in 2016 . Since no new government coalition could be formed after the election, the government took over the business on a provisional basis. It was replaced on January 11, 2017 by the Bjarni Benediktsson cabinet (2017) .
It was a continuation of the coalition made up of the Progress Party , a peasant center party, and the liberal-conservative Independence Party , which formed the government of Iceland from May 23, 2013 to April 6, 2016 as Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson 's cabinet. The reshuffle of the governing coalition took place after the resignation of Prime Minister Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson , whose successor Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson (both Progressive Party) had taken over. Sigmundur Davíð was not a member of the new government. The post of Minister for Fisheries and Agriculture, which Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson held, was held by the previous Foreign Minister Gunnar Bragi Sveinssontaken over, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs went to Lilja Dögg Alfreðsdóttir as a new member of the government. Lilja Dögg was not a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing at that time .
