Ólafur Thors was Prime Minister of Iceland from May to December 1942, 1944 to 1947, 1949 to 1950, 1953 to 1956 and most recently from 1959 to 1963
The cabinet of Ólafur Thors II was a government of the Democratic Republic of Iceland proclaimed on June 17, 1944 ( Icelandic Lýðveldið Ísland ) . It was formed on October 21, 1944 and replaced the Björn Þórðarson cabinet . It remained in office until February 4, 1947, after which it was replaced by the Stefán Jóhann Stefánsson cabinet .
The cabinet included members of the Independence Party (Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn) , the Socialist Party (Sósíalistaflokkurinn) and the Social Democratic Party of Iceland (Alþýðuflokkurinn) .
