Icelandic Social Democratic Party
The Social Democratic Party of Iceland ( Isl. Alþýðuflokkurinn , AF for short ) was an Icelandic party that was founded in 1916 as the political arm of the trade union movement.
Several groups split off from this workers' party in the course of time.
In 1999 the party merged with the People's Alliance , the People's Awakening and the Women's Alliance to form the alliance (Samfylkingin). The new party was officially founded on May 5, 2000.
