General election in Iceland 1946
The general election in Iceland in 1946 took place on June 30, 1946. In the election, the 52 members of the Althing were redefined.
The parliamentary elections in 1946, the year Iceland joined the UN , brought a victory for the Independence Party under Prime Minister Ólafur Thors . She was able to unite 39.5% of the votes.
