Igor Wladimirowitsch Kornejew ( Russian И́горь Влади́мирович Корне́ев ; born September 4, 1967 in Moscow ) is a former Russian football player and current football coach.
Kornejew began his career in the junior team of Spartak Moscow . In 1986 he moved to CSKA Moscow . The goal-scoring midfielder was a regular in the first team from the 1987 season. With CSKA he won the Soviet championship and the cup competition in 1991 . In 1991 Korneev was also voted Russian Footballer of the Year . After 180 games for CSKA in which he scored 58 goals, he moved to Spain to Espanyol Barcelona at the beginning of the 1991/92 season , he played for this team over three seasons in the Primera División 73 games and scored 21 goals. At the beginning of the 1994/95 season he then moved to the big local rivals FC Barcelona where he could not prevail in the end. In 1995 Kornejew moved to the Netherlands, first to SC Heerenveen , then in 1997 to Feyenoord Rotterdam . In 2002 he ended his active career with NAC Breda .
Korneev made his debut in 1991 in the national football team of the USSR . In total, he played five times for the Sbornaja until the collapse of the Soviet Union , where he scored three goals. He took part with the selection of the CIS in the European Championship in 1992 and was used once during the tournament. After this tournament he played eight times for the Russian national team and took part in the 1994 World Cup.
Kornejew began his coaching career in 2004 at Feyenoord as coach of the junior team. From 2006 to 2010 he was assistant coach of the Russian national team. Since 2010 he has been the sports director of Zenit Saint Petersburg .
