IF Verdandi is a Swedish football club from Eskilstuna . The team, which is now in the lower class amateur area, played three seasons in the second highest division in the 1940s .

history

Founded in 1900, the IF Verdandi footballers initially played in the lower division. In 1930 they rose to the third division, where they played against relegation and in 1934 relegated to the fourth division together with Köpings IS . After the direct resurgence, the club initially fought again against relegation, before he switched to the promotion to the second division from 1940. In 1941, second in the table behind local rivals IK City , the team won the relay the following year and prevailed against Västerås IK in the promotion games.

In the first second division season, IF Verdandi placed sixth in the table, tied on points and goals, together with IK Sleipner . In the following year also placed in the lower midfield of its second division season, the club rose after only three defeats this season together with Nyköpings AIK from the league. As a relegated team, as second in the table, the team only narrowly missed direct promotion, the following year, despite the relay victory, promotion was denied due to a league reform in which the number of third division seasons was reduced. After two seasons in the middle of the table, the club rose again in 1950 to the fourth division.

For a long time IF Verdandi played in the lower division. In 1965, the club returned to the third division for a season, but was relegated straight away. It took until 1971 before the team returned to the third level as a season winner. This time, she initially stayed in the middle of the table in the league until she briefly participated in the promotion race to the second division from the middle of the decade. After second places behind Motala AIF and Vasalunds IF in the 1975 and 1976 seasons and behind Högalids IF in 1978, the club slipped again and ended the 1980 season on a relegation zone. After rising again in 1983, the club survived a league reform in the third division three years later, but rose again in 1988. Until 1992, fourth class, the team crashed into the lower class amateur area.

At times IF Verdandi had a bandy team that competed in the top division several times in the 1930s and 1940s.

The no longer existing ice hockey department of the club took part in the 1940 and 1941 seasons in the Swedish championship , which was then still held in cup form , but did not get past the second round.
