The Kalmar Allmänna Idrottsklubb Fotbollsklubb (short: Kalmar AIK FK ) is a Swedish football club from Kalmar . In the course of more than a hundred years of club history, the team played several times in the second Swedish division .

history

On November 22, 1903, the first predecessor association of the Kalmar AIK was founded under the name Glad ungdom . Two years later the club changed its name to IK Örnen . Two years later, the second predecessor club was IK Falken . In 1909 there was another name change when IK Örnen was renamed Kalmar Idrottsklubb . In 1917, IK Falken and Kalmar Idrottsklubb merged to form Kalmar Allmänna Idrottsklubb .

With the introduction of the league system in Sweden in the 1920s, Kalmar AIK came into the third division. 1929 and 1930 each succeeded the relay victory in Division 3 Sydöstra . After the club had failed in the first year at BK Derby in the promotion round, succeeded in the following year against Motala AIF for the first time promotion to the second division. Here the level of play turned out to be too high and together with local rivals Kalmar FF the club went straight down again. After the immediate resurgence followed together with IFK Karlshamn the renewed descent. Kalmar AIK established itself in the third division in the front area and managed to win the relay again in 1938. Again, the team missed relegation in the second division, but was able to return immediately as the season winner. In the second division season 1940/41 the club reached third place behind Halmstads BK and IS Halmia , but could not build on the success in the following season and occupied a relegation place together with IFK Kristianstad . It took three years to get promoted again, and again the club stayed in the second division for two years.

Kalmar AIK initially remained in the third division in the following years. 1953 crashed the team as bottom of Division 3 Södra with Ronneby BK and IFK Värnamo in the fourth division. After the immediate resurgence, she missed behind Husqvarna IF and Waggeryds IK as third in the table one of the two promotion places to the second division. Two years later finally succeeded in returning to the second division, where the team could not hold out over the season 1957/58. This was followed by a direct crash into the fourth division. As a result, the team played at the third and fourth level until they established themselves in the third division from promotion in late 1970.

1978 Kalmar AIK managed the relay victory in Division 3 Sydöstra Götaland . In the subsequent round of promotion, the team lost only to Grimsås IF and made it to the second division in second place, ahead of Råå IF and IFK Tidaholm . After a tenth place in the first year after their return, the team missed relegation as 13th in the following year. 1982 succeeded the promotion and this time the team held for a long time on the second level. In 1991 she missed relegation in the spring championship and only played third class again in the following years. After relegation to the fourth division in 1999 and the immediate re-promotion, Kalmar AIK again missed relegation and subsequently crashed into sixth division.
