The team initially played lower class, in 1944 they were promoted to Division 3, which was then third class . In the season Sydsvenska Södra , the runner-up could be celebrated straight away, six points were missing on the promoted Höganäs BK . A year later, the relay win succeeded without defeat and after 3-0 and 5-0 successes over Falkenbergs FF in the playoffs the qualification for the reformed third division, in which the number of seasons was reduced from 17 to four. Here, too, the team was able to dominate the league and was again the season winner. Thus, the club rose to the second division . In the same year the club also reached the final in the Svenska Cupen. There BK Kenty was clearly outclassed 6-0.

In his first second division season, Råå IF finished fifth. From 1966 the club found itself in a relegation battle. While the club was able to save itself in 1967 thanks to the better goal difference, relegation was missed with an eleventh place in 1968 and the former first division team found himself in the fourth division.

In 1974 Råå IF managed to return to the third division and the club even made it through to the Swedish lower house in the following season. In the first season managed with two points ahead of relegated Motala AIF still relegation, but in 1977 the club said goodbye to third from bottom of the second division. Twice the club only missed the return to the second division in the promotion games, but in 1980 they were again in the relegation battle. In 1986, the club fell victim to the league reform and was placed in Division 4, which was then fifth . With that, the team also disappeared from higher-class football.
