The IFK Karlshamn is a Swedish football club from Karlshamn . The team played a total of three seasons in the second highest Swedish league , but is now in the lower league area.
history
IFK Karlshamn, founded in 1906, was assigned to the third division when the Swedish league system was introduced in 1928. The team immediately settled in the front third of their season and rose in 1932 when the number of second division seasons increased from two to four as third in the table for the first time in the second division. In Division 2 Södra , however, the team only managed two victories of the season, together with the Kalmar AIK the club was relegated directly. As a result, he established himself in the third division, with the team fluctuating over time between the first third of the table and relegation battle. In a league reform in 1947, the third place in the table was not enough to stay in the league, the then 17 third division relays were reduced to four.
At the end of the season 1958/59 the IFK Karlshamn returned to the third division and missed the direct march through to the second division at the end of the 1960 season only because of the poorer goal difference compared to the same point competitor Hässleholms IF . After a runner-up behind Bromölla IF in 1962, the club rose again as a season winner in the second division the following year. In Division 2 Östra Götaland , the promoted team occupied the last non-relegation place in front of BK Derby , Husqvarna IF and Nyköpings AIK , and in the 1965 season they were bottom of the table ten points to stay in the league. At the beginning of the 1990s IFK Karlshamns reported back in the fourth division and in 1992 rose again to the third division. Until 1996, the team stayed in the league, after relegation the club played fourth class until 2001. With the relegation to the sixth division in 2004, the club said goodbye to higher-class football.
