Andres Kasekamp (born December 7, 1966 in Toronto ) is a Canadian political scientist of Baltic German and Estonian origin.

He studied Slavic and Eastern European Studies at the University of Toronto . In 1996 he received his PhD from the University of London . After that, Kasekamp held visiting lectureships / professorships in Toronto and at the Humboldt University in Berlin .

In 2000 he was founding director of the Estonian Foreign Policy Institute ( Estonian Eesti Välispoliitika Instituut (EVI)) in Tallinn ; When Lauri Mälksoo became managing director of the EVI in 2013, Kasekamp coordinated the work of the EVI with the institutes of the decentralized think tank TEPSA . As of 2018, he is no longer named as an employee by EVI.

From 2002 to 2005 he was the editor of the Journal of Baltic Studies . Kasekamp has published works on the modern history of Estonia and the whole of the Baltic States . Since 2004 he has held the Chair of Baltic Politics at the University of Tartu . There he researches right-wing extremism in the Baltic States and the contemporary history of the region.
