history

prehistory

Husqvarna FF was formed in 1987 from the merger of the football departments of Husqvarna IF and Huskvarna Södra IS .

Husqvarna IF

The football team of Husqvarna IF, founded in 1904, was assigned to the third-class Division 3 Södra Mellansvenska with the beginning of the Swedish league system in the 1920s . In 1933, due to the better goal quotient compared to IK Tord , the promotion to the second division was achieved for the first time. Here the team played against relegation, which was accepted after four seasons in 1937. After the direct resurgence, she went on to relegate three more years in the second division. The club managed to win the season straight away, but failed in the promotion games to Nyköpings AIK . After the runner-up in the following year behind Jönköpings Södra IF succeeded in the third attempt as the season winner by a 5: 1 success in the necessary playoff in the promotion round against Taborsbergs SK, the return to the second division.

In the second year of membership in Division 2 Södra , Husqvarna IF missed the promotion round to Allsvenskan as runner-up, two points behind season winner Landskrona BoIS . After a reclassification to the Eastern season succeeded as fourth in the table of relegation, as the league was reduced from four to two seasons. In the concentrated league, the team missed relegation and rose together with IFK Uddevalla . In the third division, she initially occupied midfield, before 1955 succeeded in winning the season again, returning to the second-highest Swedish level of play. At first it was against relegation, but in 1959 the third place jumped out. As a result, the success could not be confirmed and in 1961 the relegation followed.

After the immediate rise again Husqvarna IF played two seasons in the second division. This was followed by the crash into fourth division in 1967. In the following years, the team shuttled between third and fourth leagues until the team finally said goodbye to higher-class football after relegation from fourth division in 1982.

Huskvarna Södra IS

The football team of Huskvarna Södra IS did not initially appear in a higher class. After being promoted to third division in the summer of 1942, she made it to the second division seven years later. Behind Råå IF , Halmstads BK , Landskrona BoIS and the Gothenburg club Örgryte IS , the promoted team finished fifth in Division 2 Sydvästra . In the subsequent second division season 1950/51, the team missed relegation with only four wins this season and went down together with Örgryte IS in the third division.

After midfield places followed in 1954 for Huskvarna Södra IS the crash into the fourth division, from which the team rose again directly. The team quickly established itself in the front of the league and returned in 1960 as the season winner of Division 3 Mellersta Götaland in the second division. The stay lasted only one season and the club rose again together with local rivals Husqvarna IF and Fässbergs IF . In the following years it went back to the fourth league level before the club established itself as an elevator team between third and fourth division.

After the merger

In 1987, the football departments merged and the merger club took over the place from Huskvarna Södra IS in the fourth-class division 3 Nordöstra Götaland . In the 1989 season there was a one-year flying visit to the third division. After the immediate relegation succeeded at the end of the 1991 season, the renewed promotion. This time the team stayed in the third division and in 1998, nine points ahead of Myresjö IF, won promotion to the second division as the division 2 Östra Götaland .

Husqvarna FF missed relegation in the second division as the table in eleventh place in the southern season, as the two seasons were merged into the Superettan . As fourth in the table, the club missed direct recovery. 2002 succeeded the relay victory in Division 2 Östra Götaland , in the promotion games, however, the club failed to BK Forward after a 0-0 away draw with a 4-4 draw due to the away goals rule . After a second place in the following year, the season win again succeeded in 2004, this time Mjällby AIF prevailed with two wins in the promotion round. In fourth place in the table, the club qualified for the newly introduced third-class Division 1 the following year . Here the club established itself in the midfield of the league, at the end of 2013 it rose as a season winner in the Superettan.
