Fässbergs IF is a Swedish football club from Mölndal . The club's team was Swedish national champions in 1924 and has played 15 seasons in the Swedish second division so far.
history
Fässbergs IF was founded on April 24, 1916 as a merger of the clubs IK Celtic , Krokslätts IK and Mölndals IF . At the beginning of the 1920s, the football team was able to place itself regularly in the top ranks in the regional, west Swedish championship. The greatest success in the club's history came in 1924 when in the final of the Swedish championship , which at the time was still played in cup mode, IK Sirius was clearly defeated 5-0 and the Von Rosens Cup was won. Since the introduction of a national league was decided, the club had to qualify for this. Although this was successful in terms of sport, the club was refused participation for economic reasons and Landskrona BoIS took the place in the elite series.
In 1928 Fässbergs IF was one of the 20 founding members of the then second-class Division 2 and was assigned to the ten-team southern group. In 1934 the team became second division champions, but failed in the promotion games with 1: 3 and 0: 2 defeats at Landskrona BoIS. In the following years things went downhill and in the 1940s the club sometimes only played sixth class.
In 1956 Fässbergs IF managed to return to the second class. Until 1960 the club belonged to Division 2. It was followed by relegation to the third division and later relegation to the fourth division. In 1994 he briefly returned to the third division. After being promoted from fifth-class Division 3, FIF played in fourth-class Division 2 between 2007 and relegated again in 2010 .
