Oskar Rönningberg (born April 2, 1986 in Lund ) is a former Swedish football player . Due to an injury, the two-time Swedish international had to end his career at the age of 22, and later he took on a board post at Helsingborgs IF.

Career

Rönningberg started playing football at Torns IF in Stångby near Lund . In 2001 the central defender moved to the youth department of Helsingborgs IF and in the same year the defender made his debut for the Swedish U-15 national team, for which he was used in all four games of the year. In the following years he stayed in the Swedish junior team supervised by Hans Lindbom . In September 2004, his career was interrupted by a cruciate ligament tear , which he sustained during a youth international match against the Finnish U-18 team.

On May 2, 2006 Rönningberg made his debut for Helsingborgs IF in a 4-0 home win in defense at the side of Andreas Granqvist in the Allsvenskan . In the summer he was able to gain a regular place for a short time and was used in a total of eleven league games in his debut season. When the club won the cup in November of that year, he was part of the squad, but was not used in the 2-0 win over Gefle IF . Three days after the final, he also made his debut alongside Mattias Bjärsmyr in the 2-4 defeat against the French U-21s in the central defense of the Swedish U-21s .

In the 2007 season he came to eleven other missions in the Allsvenskan and was still a member of the U-21 squad, but played only one other selection game. In January 2008 it appointed national coach Lars Lagerback during an American tour in the squad of the senior team . On January 13, he came in the 1-0 win over the Costa Rican national team through a goal by Samuel Holmén to his debut in the national team when he came on in the 68th minute for Behrang Safari . In the 2-0 defeat by the US national team six days later, he was in the starting lineup.

Then Rönningberg flew with Helsingborgs IF to the training camp in Spain. During a training game against Brann Bergen on January 30th in La Manga del Mar Menor , he suffered an injury to his knee that was diagnosed as a meniscus damage. In March he attended another club training camp in Turkey. On March 15, he injured his knee again. This time the injury was a cruciate ligament rupture and a game-time failure was predicted. On September 15 of that year, Rönningberg finally decided to end his career and pursue a career as a lawyer.

After working for the Modern Times Group , he joined IKEA in 2015 . In March 2017 he was also appointed to the board of his former club Helsingborgs IF.
