Mölnlycke is a village ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Västra Götalands län and the capital of the municipality of Härryda .

The place is about ten kilometers southeast of the center of Gothenburg and has a suburban character. Large parts of the development consist of single-family and terraced houses. Despite the dense development, there are also plenty of green areas, preferably by lakes. The Mölndalsån flows through the center of Mölnlycke .

Smaller parts of the crime scene belong to the west and north-west neighboring communities Mölndal (131 inhabitants on 20 hectares ) and Partille (125 inhabitants on 19 hectares, as of 2015).

history

The settlement emerged from workers' apartments belonging to the clothing manufacturer Mölnlycke AB, which was founded around 1850 and today specializes in hygiene articles and, above all, products for surgery and wound treatment . The industrialist responsible was Gustaf Ferdinand Henning (1786-1853), who immigrated from Saxony . Textiles were still produced until around 1990, but other companies have now established themselves in many of the former factory buildings. At the end of the 19th century, many nurseries opened in Mölnlycke, producing flowers, fruit and vegetables for nearby Gothenburg.

The original center of the village was near the train station and was gradually moved to its current location in the 20th century. At the beginning of the 21st century, a city-like core developed from this. In 2003 the train station was also relocated so that it is now located next to the bus station.

economy

Atlet AB, a manufacturer of industrial trucks, and Tubus System AB, which renewed old sewage and rainwater pipes with a relining process, have their headquarters in Mölnlycke .

Music and theater

In the cultural center of Mölnlycke, which was built in 1990, concerts and guest performances by theater groups are staged and films are shown. In the Wendelsbergs Theater, performances by students from the Wendelsberg Adult Education Center take place.

The local wind orchestra and big band are more important .

Sports

In Mölnlycke there are clubs for football , floorball , orienteering , gymnastics and equestrian sports . Every year the adult education center organizes a goalball competition for visually impaired athletes .
