Troels Bech (born July 29, 1966 in Svendborg ) is a former Danish football player and current coach . As a midfielder , he won the Danish national championship title with Silkeborg IF in 1994 and won the Danish women's championship as a coach in 1997. He is also a football expert at the Danish TV channel TV2.
Career
Bech started playing football at Svendborg fB in his hometown. In 1987 he moved to Germany for SpVgg Fürth , which competed in the third-class Bayernliga . After half a year he returned to Denmark in the winter and joined the first division side Silkeborg IF . With the team he won the championship title in the super league at the end of the 1993/94 season . A short time later, however, he had to end his active career after 177 games for the club due to injury at the age of 27.
Bech moved to the coaching bench and worked between 1994 and 1996 as assistant coach to Viggo Jensen and his successor Ove Christensen at Viborg FF . In 1997 he took over the women's football club Hjortshøj-Egå Idrætsforening in the 3F Ligaen , which he led to the championship title. Then Bech took over a coaching position in the men's area and looked after the second division AC Horsens . He then took over the coaching position at Ikast FS , who poached him from the league rivals. After the club merged with Herning Fremad to form FC Midtjylland in the summer of 2000 , he had to give up his position because Ove Pedersen , the coach of the other club, had been chosen as the new head coach.
In the Superliga season 2000/01 Bech took over his first coaching job in the Superliga at Odense BK when he inherited the previous year's coach Torben Storm . The team around Søren Berg , Kaspar Dalgas and Lars Jacobsen , who had fought relegation in the preseason, he led into midfield of the league. In addition, the team made it to the cup final in 2002, which was won against FC Copenhagen after goals from Berg and Dennis Siim when Christian Lønstrup conceded . After talks about a contract extension failed, he left the club for FC Midtjylland. With the club, he finished seventh in the table, but made it back to the cup final. With a 3-0 defeat against Brøndby IF the final was lost. After a weak start to the season in the 2003/04 Superliga season , he was fired from the club in November 2003 after six defeats in a row.
In March 2004, Bech returned to Odense BK and formed a coaching duo with Klavs Rasmussen . After the end of the Superliga season 2004/05 he was fired there and replaced by Bruce Rioch . In November of that year he hired Esbjerg fB . With the team around Martin Vingaard , Jesper Jørgensen and Njogu Demba-Nyrén , he occupied places in the midfield of the league in the following years. After eight points from the first 14 games in the Superliga season 2008/09 he had to give up his post there too. Shortly after his resignation from Esbjerg fB, Bech signed a two-year contract with his long-time player station Silkeborg IF.
