Viggo Jensen (* 15. September 1947 in Esbjerg ) is a former Danish football player , coach and official .
Career as a player
societies
Jensen played from 1953 to 1965 in youth for Skærbæk IF , Thor Odense and B 1909 Odense . In 1966 he was committed by the first division and reigning champions Esbjerg fB . In the first two seasons Jensen did not play in a league. He made his debut on April 28, 1968 (4th matchday) in the 0-2 defeat in the away game against BK Frem København . He scored his first league goal on October 6, 1968 (19th matchday) in a 5-1 win in the home game against B 1909 with the goal of 3-1. After nine league games and two goals, Jensen played only six league games in the following season, his last on October 5, 1969 (18th matchday) in the 3-0 defeat in the home game against B 1909. In 1970 Jensen moved to relegated B 1909 in 1971 the rise and 1972 the immediate relegation took place.
During the current season he was signed for the 1973/74 season by Bundesliga club Bayern Munich . He played his first of only five games on November 10, 1973 (15th matchday) in a 4-1 win at home against Hamburger SV . On March 20, 1974, he came in the quarter-final second leg in the 1: 2 defeat at CSKA Sofia in the European Cup for international use. Since he was unable to assert himself at Bayern , he switched to the second division club SpVgg Fürth as German champion and European Cup winner in 1974 .
After four years, 102 league games, five goals and three appearances in the DFB-Pokal competition, Jensen returned to Denmark and played for two years for Odense BK and again for B 1909 Odense, where he ended his playing career in 1980.
National team
Jensen made his debut in the national jersey on September 1, 1970 in Naestved in the 2-2 draw of the U-21 national team against the U-21 of Poland . His last game for this national team he played on November 14, 1972 in Esbjerg , which was lost to Poland 2-0.
From 1971 and 1973 he wore the jersey of the senior national team eight times ; for the first time on June 30, 1971 in Copenhagen in the 1: 3 defeat in the international test match against the national team of Germany . He played his last international match on November 21, 1973 in Paris in the 3-0 defeat by the French national team .
Career as a trainer and functionary
At the beginning of his coaching career, Jensen initially looked after a few lower-class Danish clubs. In 1988 he was voted Coach of the Year in Denmark. In 1989, parallel to his work in Silkeborg, he held the post of coach of the Danish U-21 national team. After an interlude with the Swedish first division team Malmö FF , he returned to Denmark and took over the coaching posts in Odense , Viborg , Aarhus , Esbjerg and Silkeborg at relatively short intervals . In July 2007 he took over the Estonian national team , but had to give up the post in November 2007. From 2008 to 2010 he was an assistant trainer at his multiple employer Odense BK . In 2011 he briefly took over the position of head coach at Vejle BK .
In 2011 he took up the post of sporting director at the Danish first division relegated Esbjerg fB . From November 2012 to June 2013 he coached the first division side Silkeborg IF ; the club rose to the second division at the end of the season.
