Martin Reim (born May 14, 1971 in Tallinn ) is a former Estonian football player and current coach . He is the record player for the Estonian national team .

Career

The 1.67 meter tall Reim began his professional career at FC Norma Tallinn and moved to city rivals Flora Tallinn in 1991 after winning the Estonian championship . He played with Flora until June 1999, then moved to Kotkan Työvänen Palloilijat in Finland and returned in January 2001. He played again for Flora until the end of his career in 2008, with whom he won a total of 12 national titles, including seven Estonian championships.

In the Estonian national team , for which he played from 1992 to 2007 and then again in 2009, Reim is a record player with 157 appearances. He is also the player with the most international matches in the world who has never played in a major international tournament. His compatriot Marko Kristal , who played 143 international matches, shared a similar fate .

On February 7, 2007, he presented the European with his 150th international game record of Lothar Matthaus one. On August 22, 2007, he increased his record to 151 games and expanded it to 157 games by June 6, 2009. On November 14, 2009 he was replaced by the Latvian player Vitālijs Astafjevs as the European record national player.

In September 2016 Reim took over the position of Estonian national coach. After an 8-0 defeat by the German team in qualifying for the 2021 European Championship , Reim announced his resignation on June 18, 2019.
