Urmas Hepner (born July 31, 1964 in Tallinn ) is a former Estonian football player and current coach and sports director.

Hepner played for eight clubs in three countries. He began his career in what was then the Estonian SSR , where he was mainly used in the Soviet third class and moved to Finland after Estonia gained independence in 1991 . Even in his early career, the young Estonian was considered one of the best central defenders in his country and, among other things, completed a successful trial training session at Spartak Moscow in 1984 . After this he was even presented with a contract, which the player refused, however, because he did not want to move to Moscow.

From 1993 he played again in his home country, apart from three years at the Finnish club HyPS Hyvinkää , where he was only used in one year. From 1999 to 2000 he was still under contract with the team, but was unable to participate in the game due to injury and was meanwhile acting as a youth coach in the club.

In 1992 he was voted Estonia's first footballer of the year . For the Estonian national team , Hepner played 13 games from 1992 to 1994 and was banned from the national team after an argument with Aivar Pohlak .

Today Urmas Hepner works as a football coach and sports director and has already worked in various functions for FC Levadia Tallinn .
