The Meistriliiga 1998 was the eighth season of the highest Estonian football division of men, the Meistriliiga . The season started on July 17, 1998 and ended on October 17, 1998.

season

The 1998 season was played in the calendar year for the second time after the debut season in 1992 , but only in the autumn months. After the Estonian Football Association changed the season from autumn / spring to a calendar year rhythm after the 1997/98 season. This made FC Flora Tallinn champions in the 1997/98 and 1998 seasons .

With the victory in the Estonian Cup you could win the double . As the reigning Estonian champion Flora failed in the following Champions League season 1999/2000 in the first qualifying round at FK Partizan Belgrade . The JK Eesti Põlevkivi Jõhvi went into the relegation against the KSK Vigri Tallinn at the end of the season and won it. Due to the merger between Tallinna Sadam and Levadia Maardu to FC Levadia Maardu at the end of the season, this took part as FC Levadia Maardu in the 1999/2000 UEFA Cup qualification. The Lelle SK remained despite relegation place in the league because the merger between the promoted Esiliiga FC Maardu and Tallinna Sadam a place in the Meistriliiga became free.

The championship was played in a regular season in a round game. Each team competed twice against each other team. The bottom of the table was relegated directly to the second-rate Esiliiga, the seventh-placed player played in the relegation.
