Meistriliiga 1996/97

The Meistriliiga 1997/98 was the seventh season of the highest Estonian football division of men. The first round was played from July 19, 1997 to October 26, 1997, the championship round from April 11, 1998 to June 17, 1998.

The league consisted of eight teams and was conducted in a two-tier format. In the first round, each team competed against each other twice; once at home and once away.

After this phase, the six best teams qualified for the championship round, the last two played together with the four best teams in Esiliiga for the two remaining places for the next season.
