Jalgpalliklubi Maag Tartu was an Estonian football club based in Tartu . The club colors were red and blue.

history

In 1987 the club was founded as Leivakimbonaat Tartu . From 1990 the club took part in the Estonian championship as JK Merkuur Tartu .

In the first independent championship in 1992, the club escaped relegation only by the away goals rule , because in the relegation games against Kreenholm Narva after a 1-1 draw in front of the home crowd, a 3-3 draw away.

After relegation was still managed in the following year, the club occupied a relegation place at the end of the 1993/94 season with tenth place. The 1994/95 season was also unsuccessful, the club was passed through to the third division. As third in the southern third division, the club missed direct resurgence. In the 1996/97 season, the championship title succeeded in the promotion competition and thus the return to the second division.

In the autumn season 1998, which was carried out because of the changeover to a season course within the calendar year, the club occupied the penultimate place at the end and had to relegate again. After the immediate resurgence succeeded, the team reached the relegation games in the 2000 season and fought for relegation there. In the following years, midfield places, before the club took over the license from Levadia Tallinn in 2004 and started in the Meistriliiga , Estonia's first division. Sixth place was achieved in the first season. In 2006 the name was changed to JK Maag Tartu , the club finished the championship in fifth.

After the 2006 season, Maag and JK Tammeka Tartu merged to form JK Maag Tammeka Tartu .

Stadion

The club played its home games as well as Tammeka Tartu in the Tamme Staadion . The multi-purpose stadium has a capacity of 1,000 seats.
