Kehtna (German: Kechtel ) is a rural community in the Estonian district of Rapla with an area of 507.3 km². It has 5186 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2005).
Kehtna was first mentioned as Burgberg in 1054 in a Russian chronicle. In addition to the main town Kehtna (1870 inhabitants), the rural community includes the villages of Ahekõnnu, Eidapere, Ellamaa, Haakla, Hertu, Hiie, Ingliste , Käbiküla, Kaerepere alevik, Kaerepere küla, Kalbu, Kärpla, Kastna, Keava, Kehtna-Nurme, Kenniäe , Koogiste, Kõrbja, Kumma, Laeste, Lalli, Lau, Lellapere, Lellapere-Nurme, Lelle, Linnaaluste, Lokuta, Metsaääre, Mukri Nadalama, Nõlva, Ohekatku, Pae, Palasi, Paluküla, Põllu, Põrsaku, Reef Saksa, Saunaküla, Selja, Sooaluste, Valtu-Nurme and Vastja.
The Baltic German manor house of Kechtel (Estonian: Kehtna), which was rebuilt in the Baroque style between 1906 and 1910 after the early Classicist building from 1790 burned down during the Russian Revolution of 1905, is worth seeing . The building is surrounded by a five- hectare park, which the Riga City Garden Director Georg Kuphaldt (1853–1938) created with an impressive variety of trees and shrubs.
