The Meistriliiga was held for the 27th time in 2017 as the highest Estonian football division for men. The Estonian championship, which is officially held as A. Le Coq Premium liiga , began on March 3, 2017 and ended on November 4, 2017 with the 36th match day. FC Infonet Tallinn started the season as defending champions .
Season course
As in the previous season, the league comprised ten teams. The defending champion was FC Infonet Tallinn . Promoted from the Esiliiga was JK Tulevik Viljandi . The last starting place was determined in the relegation games in November 2016 between the first division side Pärnu Linnameeskond and Maardu Linnameeskond , with last year's first division club winning.
The championship was played in a regular season with two first and two second round matches. Each team competed four times against every other team. JK Kalev Sillamäe lost his license due to financial difficulties and was placed at the bottom of the table. Because of the merger of Infonet and Levadia , there was no relegation game.
