The A Lyga 2017 was the 28th season of the highest Lithuanian league in men's soccer . It began on March 3, 2017 and ended on November 19, 2017 with the 5th matchday of the championship round. Defending champion was FK Žalgiris Vilnius .

mode

As in the previous season, the league was played with eight teams. Each team played four times against each other team, twice at home and twice away. In the event of a tie, the direct comparison counted . Then the first six clubs played in a single round (5 games each) for the championship. The last one was relegated directly, the penultimate one had to go into relegation.

Shortly before the start of the season, newcomer Šilas Kazlų Rūda withdrew his team due to financial problems. This gave the actual relegated team from 2016, FK Kauno Žalgiris , the vacated space.
