The Pärnu Linnameeskond is an Estonian football club from Pärnu and plays in the top division of Estonia, the Meistriliiga . The club colors are yellow and black.
General
The club was founded in early 1922. After the club only played in the amateur leagues in the Soviet league, it became more successful after the collapse of the state and the re-establishment of the Estonian Federation. However, it was never enough for the amateur club Vaprus Pärnu for promotion to the highest or even the second highest class. In 1999 Vaprus merged with the more successful local rivals FC Levadia Pärnu and was later able to play in the first division under the name Vaprus Pärnu. After the merger in 2002, they were promoted to the top division. After relegation in the following year, the club was able to play its way back into the first division before being relegated in 2008. In the relegation games Paide Linnameeskond prevailed, since then the team has played second class again.
In 2011, the city of Pärnu, together with the Estonian League Association, decided to get involved in the infrastructure for 3 to 5 years, such as the construction of an artificial turf pitch and the expansion of the youth department. Furthermore, the club name was changed to Pärnu Linnameeskond. In 2014 he was promoted to the top division, the Meistriliiga. This could be held until the 2017 season.
