Tulevik Viljandi (officially JK Viljandi Tulevik ) is an Estonian football club from Viljandi . The team plays their home games in the 2,000-seat Viljandi Linnastaadion . The club last played in 2015 in the Meistriliiga , the highest Estonian league.

Club history

In the 1999 season achieved the best club result with the runner-up behind FC Levadia Tallinn . This qualified for participation in the UEFA Cup . Tulevik met here in the qualifying round on the Serbian team FK Napredak Kruševac . The first leg in Kruševac was lost 5-1. In the second leg Tulevik reached a 1: 1 and was eliminated from the competition.

In the 2005 season, Tulevik finished fifth. In the 2006 season, the team finished ninth and penultimate place in the table after 36 matchdays. Five wins and five draws were compared to 26 defeats. The team had to play two relegation games against the runner-up in Esiliiga JK Kalev Tallinn . After a 0-0 draw in the first leg in Tallinn, the team only achieved a 1-1 draw in the second leg in their own stadium. Due to the away goals rule, this would have meant relegation from the Meistriliiga. Due to the merger of the two clubs from Tartu, Maag Tartu and Tammeka Tartu , however, a place was again free and thus Tulevik remained in the top division. In 2010 the seventh place was reached, but it followed the withdrawal from the top division. After that, it was first played in the II Liiga, the third highest class. In 2014, he was promoted to the highest class again, but this could not be maintained in the following season.
