Tulevik Viljandi

The Viljandi linnastaadion is a football and athletics stadium in Viljandi , Estonia. The football club Tulevik Viljandi plays its home games here.

The stadium is located directly on Lake Viljandi . It has a capacity of around 2000 spectators. This is divided into 1000 standing and 1000 seats. The seats are only on one long side. There are five or six rows of wooden benches.

The playing area has a size of 102 m × 68 m.

Construction of the stadium began in 1928 and was opened in 1932 or 1933. In 1960 and 1989 the stadium was rebuilt. As of 2007, the stadium no longer complies with UEFA guidelines. Therefore no international games may be played.

A new stadium is planned for 2008. It is to have 2000 seats and a new football field and new athletics tracks.

The Estonian national football team has played twice in the Linnastaadion so far. The premiere took place on June 4, 1997 against Azerbaijan . Estonia won 1-0. The second and so far last game took place on June 29, 1998 against Lithuania and ended 0-0. Both games were friendly .

The stadium receives the highest number of visitors during the annual run around Lake Viljandi. This fun run is one of the largest in Estonia. Up to 2,500 spectators follow the finish line in the stadium.

A league game by Tulevik Viljandi usually has between 100 and 200 spectators.
