The Kalevi Keskstaadion ( German Kalev Zentralstadion ) is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Estonian capital Tallinn .
history
The Kalevi Keskstaadion was opened in 1955. During the Soviet occupation of Estonia it was called the Komsomoli stadium . It was extensively renovated in 2004. The Üldtantsupidu dance festival has been held in the stadium since 1955 . The sports facility is a multi-purpose stadium with a large lawn in the center of Tallinn ( Kesklinn district ). Today it is mainly used for soccer games, but also for athletics and dance events and rallies. It is the home stadium of Estonian second division team JK Tallinna Kalev . Until the merger in 1998 with FC Levadia Maardu and FC Levadia Tallinn , Tallinna Sadam also played in the Kalevi Keskstaadion. The stadium has space for 11,500 visitors, but it has no floodlights .
