Jonas Lundén (born December 27, 1980 in Borlänge ) is a former Swedish football player . The defender and midfielder joined the Swedish national team in 2001 . After the end of his career he became GAIS sports director at his last game station .

Career

Player career

Lundén started playing football at Forssa BK . He later moved to the youth of the top-class club in his hometown, the second division IK Brage . From there he moved to IFK Göteborg in 1997 , where he made his debut with the Allsvenskan in the 1998 season . At the side of players such as Andreas Hermansson , Magnus Erlingmark , Steinar Pedersen and Gustaf Andersson , he - still an offensive player at the time - had established himself in the squad of the first division team under coach Stefan Lundin at the turn of the millennium . As a result, the national coaching duo Tommy Söderberg and Lars Lagerbäck appointed him to the national team for the opening international games in 2001. In the 0-0 draw against the Faroe Islands on January 31 of that year, he came on in the 76th minute for Christian Wilhelmsson .

After Lundén was only seven games in the regular formation in the 2001 season, he left the Gothenburg club at the end of the season. New employer League rival was IF Elfsborg . In the team supervised by Anders Grönhagen , he gained a regular place in his first year. At the side of Jari Ilola , Fredrik Stenman , Andreas Klarström , Lars Nilsson and Fredrik Berglund , he played with the club in the lower division. After he was often absent from the 2004 season due to various injuries and the newly signed coach Magnus Haglund subsequently increasingly relied on the storm duo Joakim Sjöhage and Hans Berggren as offensive forces, he hardly got a chance and was increasingly in more defensive positions in his isolated missions set up.

In 2006 Lundén joined the first division GAIS . Here, too, the defensive all-rounder was slowed down by injuries at the beginning, but was regularly in the starting XI during his appearances and was characterized by good performances. As a result, the club extended his contract for two years in autumn 2007. Under coach Magnus Pehrsson , who looked after the club in the 2008 season , and his successor Alexander Axén , he was still part of the team alongside Wanderson do Carmo , Dime Jankulovski and Richard Ekunde , but was again slowed down by minor injuries. After the end of the 2011 season , in which he had contributed to fifth place in the table and thus the best result in the club's recent history in twelve appearances, he ended his active career.

After the active time

Immediately after the end of his career, Lundén moved to the administrative area at GAIS as assistant to head of sport Mats Persson . When the club slipped into the relegation battle in the 2012 season and the transition to second division slowly manifested itself in early October, the club reorganized. On this move, Lundén Persson inherited as the club's sports director who was supposed to organize the upheaval.
