Ilian Evtimov ( Bulgarian Илиан Евтимов ; born April 28, 1983 in Sofia ) is a Bulgarian - French basketball player .

Evtimov, whose father and brother Vasco were or are also professional basketball players, began this sport at the age of eight. He played for five years from 2001 to 2006 for the college team Wolfpack at North Carolina State University in the US NCAA , where he was injured for a year in 2002/03. Afterwards, Evtimov, who played internationally for France, went to CB Estudiantes in Madrid in the Spanish ACB league for the end of the 2006 season , before the Bulgarian-born went on a basket hunt for the Italian club VidiVici Bologna in the 2006/07 season , with which he became Italian runner-up in 2007 . Interestingly, this season his older brother Vasco played for local rivals Climamio Bologna . Vasco Evtimov had previously, but not at the same time, been active for the college team North Carolina Tar Heels , which, like the Bolognese clubs, are also a regional rival of the Wolfpack in the NCAA.

From 2007 to 2009 Evtimov played for the German first division club Skyliners Frankfurt , with whom he reached the play-off semi- finals for the German championship in 2008 and the semi-finals in the German Cup in 2009. He then moved to Levski Sofia in 2009. There, however, his contract was terminated at the end of the year. At the beginning of 2010 he therefore signed a contract with AEL Limassol in Cyprus until the end of the season .

For the 2010/2011 season Evtimov moved to France, where he grew up, to Élan Sportif Chalonnais . In the second season he reached the final of the EuroChallenge with the club in 2012 , which was lost to the Turkish club Beşiktaş Milangaz . For this, they won the final of the championship against Le Mans Sarthe Basket at national level , after they had previously won the French league cup "Semaine des As" and the national cup.
