Gustaf Andersson (born December 6, 1974 in Trollhättan ) is a former Swedish football player . The striker , who played an international match for the Swedish national team in 2001 , won the Swedish Cup in 2006 with Helsingborgs IF .

Career

Andersson started playing soccer in his hometown at Trollhättan's BoIS . In 1991 he moved to the youth department of local rivals Trollhättans FK . At the club he made his debut in the fourth division in 1992 and was able to celebrate promotion to the third division in 1993. There the team only finished penultimate and after a defeat in the relegation game against Qviding FIF the immediate relegation was certain. 1996 succeeded the renewed championship in the fourth division, Andersson left the club after the end of the season.

From 1997 Andersson went hunting for goals for Västra Frölunda IF . Here, too, he was able to celebrate a promotion straight away, the club became champions of the southern season of the second division and thus rose to the Allsvenskan . After two years with the club in the first division, he moved to league rivals IFK Gothenburg before the 2000 season . In his first season for the new club he scored 14 goals this season, placing him in third place in the Allsvenskan's list of goalscorers behind Fredrik Berglund and Marcus Allbäck . Therefore, he was appointed to the Swedish national team at the beginning of 2001 and on February 1 of that year Andersson came to his only assignment in the Jersey of the national team. However, the team lost their game against the Finnish national selection 0-1. In the following two years he could not keep his scoring danger and the club was not successful either. In 2002 he even had to compete with his club in the relegation against the second division champions , his former club Västra Frölunda IF, but was finally able to celebrate relegation.

Nevertheless, Andersson joined the league rivals Helsingborgs IF for the 2003 season . There he didn't miss a minute in the first two seasons and scored twelve goals of the season in his debut season. However, the success of HIF was slow. In 2006, the team won the Svenska Cup and qualified fourth for the Royal League . After a serious knee injury, he missed the entire 2007 season . Therefore, in January 2008, he decided to end his career.
