Magnus Samuelsson (born April 15, 1972 in Norrköping ) is a former Swedish football player . The midfielder played his active career in Sweden and Norway and won the Swedish championship title with IF Elfsborg in 2006 and the national cup in 2003.

Career

Samuelsson started playing football at Simonstorps IF. There he made his debut in the men's amateur team. Thereupon those responsible at IFK Norrköping noticed him and brought him to the Allsvenskan . In August 1990 he made his debut in the game against Malmö FF in the Swedish top division. At first he was only used irregularly in the first division, from the 1996 season he was finally able to establish himself as a regular.

In 1999, Samuelsson joined the Norwegian club FK Haugesund . With the previous year's relegation from the Tippeligaen , he succeeded in direct promotion back to the top class. However, after relegation was again missed, the midfielder returned to Sweden.

Samuelsson signed a contract with the reigning cup winner IF Elfsborg . At the club from Borås he established himself straight away as a regular player and competed with him in both the Allsvenskan and the European Cup. In 2003 he reached the final of the Svenska Cup with the team . Two goals from Lars Nilsson brought home his first title win with a 2-0 win over Assyriska FF . In the following years he contributed as a regular player in the defensive midfield to the fact that the club could establish itself in the front area of the league. In the 2006 season he played 14 games this season in winning the Lennart Johansson Cup for the Swedish national champions.

After the end of the season, Samuelsson announced his departure from IFE after the end of his contract . The 34-year-old returned to his first professional station IFK Norrköping, where he signed a two-year contract. Here he was part of the tribe of the team that competed in the second-rate Superettan . At first he ended his career when his contract expired after the end of the second division season in 2008 , but in March 2009 he signed a new one-year contract with IFK and began training as a coach at the same time.

After he let his active career come to an end this year with 19 missions and then switched to fifth class at Kimstad GoIF for a season , he was hired as a technical trainer at his home club IFK Norrköping almost at the same time.
