The 56th edition of the festival Italian Song Sanremo found in 2006 from February 27 to March 4 in the Ariston Theater in Sanremo and was hosted by Giorgio Panariello , Ilary Blasi and Victoria Cabello with Marta Cecchetto , Claudia Cedro , Vanessa Hessler and Francesca Lancini moderates.
procedure
In 2006 comedian Giorgio Panariello took over the helm from Paolo Bonolis . He was moderated by Ilary Blasi and Victoria Cabello , and the four models Marta Cecchetto, Claudia Cedro, Vanessa Hessler and Francesca Lancini also appeared in supporting roles. Panariello shared the artistic direction with Gianmarco Mazzi . The biggest innovation of the previous year, the division of the participants into categories, remained, although the Classic category was abolished. The voting system and the “duet evening” on Friday, during which the participants were able to present their contribution in a new version together with guests, were also retained.
The newcomer category comprised twelve entries, the categories Donne (women), Uomini (men) and Gruppi (music groups) six each. Only the top two in each category made it to the final, where the television audience decided the festival winner from the four category winners via televoting . With participants like Povia , Gianluca Grignani , Alex Britti , Zero Assoluto or Sugarfree , very radio-compatible contributions were represented in the competition. The favorite was initially Dolcenera , newcomer winner 2003, who had previously won the second season of the reality show Music Farm . The band Nomadi and Anna Oxa were considered "veterans" . The guest list included John Travolta , Riccardo Cocciante , Leonardo Pieraccioni , Andrea Bocelli , Eros Ramazzotti and Laura Pausini .
Especially through the appearance together with Roberto Vecchioni on the duet evening, the chances of the Nomadi with Dove si va , who also won the band category , recently increased . Among the men, Povia won with Vorrei avere il becco , with the women Anna Tatangelo with Essere una donna and with the newcomers Riccardo Maffoni with Sole negli occhi . In the televoting, Povia finally won the festival, the critic's award went to Noa , Carlo Fava and the Solis String Quartet with Un discorso in generale . Overall, however, the festival was not very successful, and Panariello in particular received a lot of criticism.

Following the festival, 14 entries entered the single charts, two more only entered the download charts. All six entries from the men's category reached the charts, four each from the women's and group categories and two from the newcomer category. Overall the most successful was the Duo Zero Assoluto with Svegliarsi la mattina , of the four category winners Anna Tatangelo was the most successful.
