The 60th edition of the Festival della Canzone Italiana di Sanremo took place in 2010 from February 16 to 20 at the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo and was moderated by Antonella Clerici .

procedure

The Ariston Theater, venue of the Sanremo Festival

In 2010 Gianmarco Mazzi took over the organization of the festival on his own for the first time . It essentially followed the tried and tested model of the previous year, with a duet evening, eliminations and a pure televoting vote in the final. Ten entries were entered in the newcomer category and 26 in the main category, but Morgan was excluded before the festival began after defending his cocaine use in an interview . Antonella Clerici was hired for the moderation .

After Marco Carta's victory in the previous year, the influence of the casting shows in the 2010 field of participants was even more pronounced: Marco Mengoni ( X-Factor winner 2009), Valerio Scanu ( Amici finalist 2009) and Noemi (X. -Factor participant 2009), in the newcomer category Tony Maiello (X-Factor participant 2008). From the newcomer category of the previous year Arisa , Malika Ayane and Irene Fornaciari returned to the main category, as did the newcomer winners 2008 Sonohra and 2007 Fabrizio Moro . With Toto Cutugno , Enrico Ruggeri , Povia and Simone Cristicchi , four former Sanremo winners were also represented. Among the guests for this edition were Queen Rania of Jordan and Jennifer Lopez .

Povias contribution La verità was after 17 years in 2009 vegetative state who died Eluana Englaro dedicated and correspondingly controversial. For the biggest uproar, both among the critics and other participants, the patriotic contribution Italia amore mio by Pupo , who was accompanied by Emanuele Filiberto , a descendant of the last Italian king, and the tenor Luca Canonici . When the trio reached the final round of the best three, the audience gave them loud whistles and the orchestra musicians tore up the notes in protest.

Valerio Scanu was finally able to prevail with Per tutte le volte che… , ahead of Italia amore mio and Marco Mengoni with Credimi ancora . Tony Maiello won the newcomers category with Il linguaggio della resa . The critic prizes went to Malika Ayane (Ricomincio da qui) and Nina Zilli (L'uomo che amava le donne) .
