Malika Ayane / maˈliːka aˈjan / (born January 31, 1984 in Milan , Italy ) is an Italian singer and cantautrice . She took part in the Sanremo Festival four times and won the Critics' Prize twice.

Career

Ayane's father is from Morocco , her mother from Italy. Between 1995 and 2001 she studied cello at the Conservatory and sang in the Coro di Voci Bianche of the Teatro alla Scala . In 2007 she was discovered by Caterina Caselli and signed to her label Sugar Music . She made her debut in 2008 with the single Sospesa and a self-titled album; the second single, Feeling Better , was her first hit. In 2009 she took part in the Newcomer category at the Sanremo Festival and presented Come Foglie , followed by a special edition of her first album. In 2010 she returned to Sanremo and won, now in the main category, the critics' award with Ricomincio da qui . At the same time, the second album Grovigli was released , which reached second place in the charts. It contained contributions from Pacifico , Cesare Cremonini and Paolo Conte .

Two years later Ayane reported back with the album Ricreazione , introduced by the single Tre cose . Paolo Conte and Pacifico as well as u. a. Tricarico and Paolo Buonvino involved. At the 2013 Sanremo Festival , the singer presented Niente and E se poi , and during the festival she also covered the song Cosa hai messo nel caffè? by Riccardo Del Turco . The three songs found their way into a new edition of the last album, E se poi finally reached fourth place in the competition. In 2014 she made a guest appearance in the short film Caserta Palace Dream .

A year later, Ayane entered the 2015 Sanremo Festival , where she came third with Adesso è qui (Nostalgico presente) and won the critics' award. The fourth album Naïf was released afterwards and also contained the song Senza fare sul serio , which became one of their greatest successes and was awarded triple platinum . In 2016 Ayane was seen in Italy as Evita in the musical of the same name .

Between 2009 and 2010 Ayane was in a relationship with fellow musician Cesare Cremonini, and in 2011 she married Federico Brugia.
