Elia Marcelli

Elia Marcelli (born March 3, 1915 in Rome , † May 23, 1998 ibid) was an Italian poet , documentary filmmaker and screenwriter .

Life

Marcelli first studied law , but then turned to literature; he graduated with a thesis on Divine Comedy . Awarded during the war, but also injured, he founded the “Lega Pacifista Italiana” in 1943 and published magazines that propagated this attitude; he processed his experiences in literary works, some of which appeared decades later. After the war he was close to neorealism and headed the Fabrica di Roma for three years .

In 1949 he moved to Venezuela , where he began a career as a filmmaker, mostly documentary material. Marcelli brought The Revenge of the Red Goddess to the cinemas in 1954 - “Beautiful nature and landscape images and a meager story” - which was followed a few years later by two more ethnographic works; the RAi also hired him for work. In 1977 he was a consultant for this branch of science with Fabrizio Taglionis Gli uccisori .
