The 29th edition of the Festival della Canzone Italiana di Sanremo took place in 1979 from January 11th to 13th at the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo and was moderated by Mike Bongiorno with Anna Maria Rizzoli .
procedure
In 1979 the city of Sanremo recalled Gianni Ravera as director of the festival after eight years , which means that the event, following various innovations in previous years, was once again more traditional. Mike Bongiorno also returned as a presenter. The Rai again broadcast all evenings of the festival.
The number of participants grew to 22, but most of them were newcomers: only six of them had festival experience. The most famous participant was the French Antoine , who had already participated in five editions of the festival. With Enrico Beruschi , a comedian also entered the race. Franco Fanigliulo and Mino Wahraghi were most convincing ; the former caused a scandal because the original lyrics of his song mentioned cocaine , which had to be censored for the festival.
Twelve of the 22 entries made it to the final. After an evening with many international guests such as Kate Bush and Tina Turner ,joyaghi was able to prevail in the final vote.
