Life

After training up to civil engineering at the renowned École Centrale Paris (graduated in 1966), he worked as an architect for the French building ministry. He started singing in the 1960s and then performed with long hair and floral shirts as part of the hippie movement . His texts were critical and were intended to point out grievances. Shortly thereafter, the French singer Johnny Hallyday responded with the title Cheveux longs, idées courtes ('Long hair, short mind'), which polarized youth culture at the time.
