The second edition of the Festival della Canzone Italiana di Sanremo took place from January 28th to 30th in the municipal casino in Sanremo in 1952 and was moderated by Nunzio Filogamo .
procedure
After the success of the previous year, the event was held almost unchanged in 1952. Moderator Filogamo and music director Cinico Angelini took over their duties again, but the number of orchestral musicians was increased. The number of contributions sent in by the music publishers also increased significantly compared to the previous year, so that the commission had 319 songs to choose from. The singers of the last edition returned, but this year Gino Latilla and Oscar Carboni joined Nilla Pizzi , Achille Togliani and the Duo Fasano . While the interest of the journalists remained low, the public interest had increased significantly, which was also reflected in higher admission prices.
The rules remained the same: on Monday and Tuesday ten songs were performed, from which the audience could choose the five finalists. The final was held on Wednesday, with last year's winner Nilla Pizzi not only defending first place in 1952, but also taking second and third place. Vola colomba , the winning song, told in patriotic tones the fate of the Allied occupied city of Trieste ; At the award ceremony, the singer dedicated the song not only to her family, but also to the people of Trieste.
