Carlo Donida
Carlo Donida Labati (born October 30, 1920 in Milan , † April 22, 1998 in Porto Valtravaglia ) was an Italian songwriter and pianist.
Career
Donida attended the Conservatory in Milan and graduated in piano . When he got a position as arranger for the newly established pop music department at the music publisher Ricordi , he began his career as a songwriter. Together with Gian Carlo Testoni he made his debut at the Sanremo Festival in 1951 with two songs interpreted by the Duo Fasano . He then worked with Calibi and Pinchi ; Donida's collaboration with Mogol , with whom he was responsible for about 126 songs, can be rated as the most important . In 1961 , the song Al di là by Donida-Mogol, interpreted by Betty Curtis and Luciano Tajoli, won the Sanremo Festival. The songs Uno dei tanti and Gli occhi miei were also international successes in the English versions I (Who Have Nothing) and Help Yourself . Donida was represented as a songwriter in twelve editions of the Sanremo Festival until 1971. Apart from Sanremo, Luigi Tenco and Lucio Battisti also sang songs composed by Donida.
